Obituary

Our beloved Priscilla Brickhouse, lovingly known as “Mrs. B” passed away in her home on March 24, 2020. She was able to recently celebrate her 84th birthday in February.
Priscilla is survived by her loving children: Regina, Idena, Yvonne, Richard, Ronald, and Rita. She has a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother and father – Cherie and Samuel Brickhouse. Her children Sharon Brickhouse and Rickie Carter, and Her beloved brothers, John Henry, James Edward, Joseph Roosevelt, Willie, Cleveland, Samson, Seth, Herbert Hoover. Her sisters, Lola, Fannie and Josephine.
Priscilla was born on February 15, 1936. In her earlier years, Priscilla was a devoted Nurse’s Assistant and worked for over 20 years at a neighborhood daycare Aunt Bessie’s, where Priscilla enjoyed taking care of and nurturing small children. Priscilla was a well-known member of her community both during her time at Aunt Bessie’s and within her small living community at the Barham House.
In addition to her career in the medical and childcare field, Priscilla was a caring, selfless, and loving mother. Priscilla’s life was devoted to her children where she cared for them and never passed judgment. It was without a doubt that Priscilla would do anything for her children, she ensured that they always had what they needed regardless of her circumstances. She enabled her children to always maintain a safe and consistent home life, which allowed them to provide the same for her grandchildren. As a Grandmother, Priscilla carried on these same values to love her grandchildren with every fiber in her being.
Priscilla passed away peacefully in her home, after several years of medical issues. Priscilla fought some battles with her health and was recently hospitalized. Shortly before her passing she was in a rehabilitation center where she excitedly called her daughter, Idena, and told her “I passed the test baby, I’m ready to come home.” And that she did, this time she went on home with God.
Though the Brickhouse and Carter family have lost their matriarch , her memory will forever live on. Priscilla was one of the strongest women we all knew, and it is with deep sadness that we no longer have her physically here with us. During this difficult time the family would like to remember Priscilla for her sassy personality, loving nature, and bright spirit – that is what she would want. Whenever the sun shines bright in the sky that is her way of warming us up and reminding us to stay strong. A funeral is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. on Monday March 30, 2020 at Curry & Giordano Funeral Home with a reception to follow at Hillside Cemetery. Due to the current health climate, the family is asking for only immediate family members to attend and celebrate Priscilla’s life.

I have fond memories of Miss Priscilla. She was my care taker when I was a baby up until I was 3 1/2 yrs old at Aunt Bessies. My family moved away around that time, but when we moved back 13 years later I remember walking into Bohlman Towers to visit a friend. I heard someone call my name and when I turned to look to see who it was it was a feeling of love and the feeling of being safe rushing over me. I knew right away who she was because as a child you don’t forget the people who nurtured you and showed you love. With all that I have been through, It is because of her that I am able to show my own children unconditional love. She showed me what that was. Thank you Miss Priscilla for the loving memories and thank you GOD for allowing me to have met her. My condolences to the family, God bless ❤️.

My deepest and most sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Miss Priscilla. I remember her always being a really sweet woman, who absolutely loved her family. God forbid you would mess with her or one of her children. The whole family comes out to settle the matter. 😉😳 I will miss Miss. B. Dearly. [807]
