It is with great sadness that the family of Kevin John Scully Sr. announces his sudden passing. After his courageous battle with an undiagnosed neurological disease, Kevin died on July 21, 2019 at the age of 69. He left this earth peacefully, in the comfort and privacy of his Assisted Living home, located in Sarasota, FL.

Born on February 18, 1950 in Yonkers, NY, Kevin was the second child, and only son of John F. And Muriel (Richey) Scully. He spent his childhood in Cortlandt Manor, NY, excelling at every sport that he played. Baseball and Golf were always his favorite. After graduating from Lakeland High School, Kevin enlisted in the Army National Guard, and was honorably discharged. He was also a proud member of The Local 3 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and retired after over 40 years of employment.

Kevin was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Roxanne (Bottos), who died just two months earlier on May 22, 2019. He is survived by his two sons, Kevin (Evanne) Scully Jr. of Sarasota, FL and Ryan (Jackie) Scully of Medford, NJ; sisters Kathlyn (Charles) Bott of Peekskill and Amy (Steve) Thompson of Poughquag, NY; and two grandchildren, Connor (9), and Quinn (8) Scully.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00AM Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Assumption Church followed by an Interment at Assumption Cemetery. While extremely sad, the family is encouraged by the belief that Kevin and Roxanne are reunited once again in God’s Kingdom.

To the Scully Family,

It was sad to hear about the passing of Kevin - I express my deepest sympathy. He and I grew up on Ely Road - we went to school together in the same class (St. Columbanus and Lakeland HS (1968). I have many great memories of New Gull Manor - it was a magical place with the large wooded area next to our neighborhood, endless baseball games, ice skating and much more. I remember his sister Kathy organizing Memorial Day parades for our neighborhood. Kevin's and a couple of the Shaw's passing's has put me in a reflective mood of days gone by.

Kevin was a cheerful little boy, well loved by everyone in his family. I every memory I have of him he was easy -going and interested in whatever anyone had to say. He had a lovely quality of attention to people. He reminded me of Aunt Sis and Uncle Jack in those qualities. He raised to wonderful sons, who honor his memory and legacy of decency, kindness, responsible and loving parenting and a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.
